Public street lighting of Tromsø

AEC Illuminazione and Multilux, the official partner in Norway, have collaborated with the local administration for the new LED street lighting of Tromsø. In fact, ITALO was installed in the high-traffic roads surrounding the port area of Breivika. The E8 is in fact a very busy high-traffic road, which needed high-performance LED luminaires in order to increase safety and energy savings for the Municipality. The advantages of the installation have achieved the energy efficiency objectives of the road with uniformly distributed lighting, in a port area with a high traffic density, also due to the frequent transit of heavy vehicles.

The Tromsø LED road lighting project involved the installation of the ITALO lighting luminaires which ensured significant energy savings and visual comfort for drivers and pedestrians.

Cost reduction

The street lighting used for the LED lighting of Tromsø allowed the Norwegian municipality a considerable saving in electricity and a net reduction in maintenance thanks to the long lifespan of the LED sources.

A new roundabout to facilitate access to the port

New LED public lighting for the Tromsø infrastructure

The work on the E8 highway also involved the construction of a large roundabout that improved access to the port and the Breivika industrial area, also favouring connections with the nearby Tromsø university hospital. The Norwegian state highway authority, Statens Vegvesen, has planned the construction of a new four-lane section. Two of these have been specifically reserved for buses to further facilitate connections in the area.
