Florence (Italy) | Firenze Lantern

After the devastating flood in Florence in 1966, AEC Illuminazione contributed to the reconstruction of the famous Tuscan city.
This dramatic flood, one of the most tragic natural events ever happened in Italy, caused priceless damage to many victims in Florence, all around the region and even the country.
Years after the event local municipalities undertook many reconstruction projects in order to bring the city back to normal.
Public lighting was a crucial issue. At the time Cino Cini was at the head of AEC Illuminazione, the former small company was chosen for providing the new decorative lighting of Florence.
It was a great chance for AEC Illuminazione to start the production of cast iron candelabra for outdoor historical lighting.
The FIRENZE lantern is the synthesis of a detailed research in modern industrial technologies, applied to the art of master craftsmen.
The luminaires still light up the city nights in its central streets and along the river Arno. AEC Illuminazione is proud to have contributed to the reconstruction of one of the most important cities in the country, representing ‘Made in Italy’ around the world.
