9th July 2018
A very special evening for AEC ILLUMINAZIONE, because the team was awarded in Essen, Germany, for the particular design of STYLO, the new LED lighting fixture for urban lighting. The product received the most prestigious world design award in the lighting category.

The product was designed by the Designers Massimo Sacconi and Marzia Bandini of ID Industrial Design (Florence). The technology has allowed the designers together with the AEC Team, to face the challenge with the awareness of being able to achieve great results given by the experience gained over the years in the world of great industrial design.
Teamwork between their synergies and skills has led to the birth of this extraordinary product.
Presented at the public lighting market in March 2018, after a few months, it was awarded one of the most famous and important competitions in the world, for his particular aesthetic form.
The Designer's goal, in collaboration with AEC, was to design a product with great aesthetic impact, achieving high lighting performance and full respect for the environment.

The award ceremony for the Red Dot Award took place in Essen, Germany.
Every year, the event includes three different moments: the Red Dot Gala, the winners 'dinner and the designers' night.
During the Red Dot Gala, the winners of the Red Dot: Best of the Best, received their trophies on the stage of the lyric theater in Essen, the Aalto-Theater.
One of the most important moments was the award of the title "Red Dot: Design of the Year" in front of about 1,200 international guests.
After the Red Dot Gala, the ceremony included the winners' dinner in the Zollverein ministry.
Today the mine is preserved in its original conditions and represents a living image of the history of mining and industrial architecture.
About 400 people attended the dinner, including the winners and representatives of business, politics and the media.
After the Red Dot Gala, the event ended with a "Party Night in the Red Dot Design Museum" where the Red Dot winners, including AEC ILLUMINAZIONE, received their certificates.
The Designers Massimo Sacconi & Marzia Bandini, together with the AEC Team composed by Alessia Cini, Michela Mariani, Sven Dressel and Cindy Dressel, have collected the Stylo certificate, then taking the usual picture.
The celebration of this success took place alongside the award-winning products, as the party took place inside the museum where STYLO is now exposed to the public. AEC ILLUMINAZIONE is today the proud of this great success because the company believes and invests heavily in the design of all its products.

STYLO stands out for its unique technical features: there is a wide range of optics to choose from. The individual optical elements can be rotated 180° in order to achieve the desired lighting level.
Another strong point of STYLO is its LED backlight module: an option that illuminates the back of the unit's frame for a special effect of continuous light guidance.

Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Award, said:

“I want to congratulate the award winners sincerely on their wonderful success in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2018. Success in the competition is proof of the good design quality of the products and once again shows that companies are on the right path. When I speak about good design, I am referring to more than just an attractive product. All of the products are characterised by outstanding functionality. This demonstrates that the designers have understood their clients and their needs”.

In occasion of the Light & Building 2018, AEC officially presented this lighting luminaire for street and urban lighting. The product has two types of glass: VP glass or two-colored polycarbonate diffuser with UV protection.
UV protection improves speaker life performance, ensuring long-term stability and minimal change in light transmission.
