History

 



1957 -
Cino Cini founds AEC Illuminazione: the Company produces indoor lighting for industrial and commercial application and outdoor lighting for private and public gardens.

1966 - Following the devastating flood in the city of Florence AEC Illuminazione provides the city centre with the new decorative lighting and starts the production of the beautiful cast iron decorative candelabra.

1982 -  AEC dedicates significant investments to the new production of street lighting devices successfully penetrating in the market of public lighting.

1984 - Following the sudden death of the founder, Alessandro Cini takes the guide of the Company carrying out an ambitious project of business development.

1988 - The works for the construction on the new plant in Castelnuovo get started.

1999 - The company is certified with the ISO 9001:1994 quality system: an important result rewarding the work and professionalism of all AEC staff.

2000 - AEC Headquarters moves to the new plant in Castelnuovo: the expansion of the new Headquarters, (including all the production units, the R & D department and all the offices) will reach more than 12,000 square meters within 2007.

2006 - AEC R&D department undertakes the first studies on the design of LED lighting fixtures. The company performs the first supplies for “Autostrade per l’Italia”, the Italian Road Authority, substituting part of the existing SHP devices with its more efficient LED luminaires.  

2007 - In occasion of  LivinLuce (Milan) AEC presents the new series of products for urban application and earns the "Innovation & Design Award - Design category".

2008/2010 - AEC ILLUMINAZIONE undertakes a project aiming to raise awareness about the concepts of energy saving and environmental protection through the proposal of high efficient LED devices for public lighting.
The  launch of the new LED fixtures (Ledin, ILO, XMOD) at Light + Building exhibition, is a great success.

2010/2012 - The enlargement of AEC product range constantly proceeds and AEC keeps developing high performing optical systems for its range of LED products.
UL International Italy Srl, leader in the field of safety certification, attests the conformity of AEC tests and photometric laboratory to the international standards, recognizing the value of a Company that has always been attentive to the quality of its products.

2012 - The management  inaugurates "AEC Pole Division": a modern 7.000mq plant (for a total area of ​​30,000 sqm) entirely dedicated to the production of poles for public lighting.
AEC Illuminazione further strengthens the image of a Company that continues to invest in growth by providing its users with an offer of lighting systems even more complete and competitive.

2013 - AEC launches the new ITALO series: a product featured by a remarkably light and compact design, developed with the most updated technologies.
With ITALO, AEC pays tribute to the Italian work and talent celebrating the value of a quality product entirely made within AEC Italian Headquarters where the "Made in Italy" become synonymous with excellence, style and prestige. Confirming this positive trend, AEC is proud to be part of the "Italian Best Companies" 2013-2014.

2014 - A decisive year for the company. In April, AEC won a big tender for the lighting of the city of Milan with 100,000 luminaires ITALO. A commitment, in terms of production, that our team successfully perform demonstrating once again the dynamism of a company able to take on new amazing challenges.
 
2015 - The supply of efficient LED lighting systems for the complete energy efficiency of other important Italian and foreign cities continues for AEC. After Milan, the main Italian Municipalities, start tenders for tenders. AEC participates with the ITALO series, winning the new LED lighting in Turin with 45,000 lighting fixtures, Brescia with over 16,000 fixtures, Bergamo with 15,000 lighting fixtures and others such as Ravenna, Desenzano, Rho, Corbetta. Abroad, Olso, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Berlin, Auckland, Gothenburg choose AEC LED technology Made in Italy.
 
2016 - The AEC IMMOBILIARE company is born. It completes, in a few months, a major redevelopment project of the former area where, in 1957, the first AEC headquarters was born.
An ambitious redevelopment project, carried out with the company Proedil Costruzioni Srl, completely transforms the former area into a residential complex characterized by careful architecture and great design. 
 
2017 - AEC completes, in August 2017, the construction of the new Logistics Center of 4.651sqm. Inside, new shipping offices, new loading ramps and, above all, new imposing automated warehouse that allows the company great flexibility of use, thanks to a capacity and potential of 12,000 units.
 
2018 - After 52 years, after the flood of Florence, AEC returns to light up this important Tuscan city again, after having won the tender of well over 27,000 LED lighting fixtures, for the complete efficiency of the city lighting. The tender was launched by Silfi Spa, the utility company that manages public lighting in Florence.

2018 - STYLO, AEC Illuminazione's urban lighting fixture, receives the RED DOT DESIGN AWARD, a prestigious international quality label and one of the biggest and most important design awards in the world. Faithful to the motto "In search of good design and innovation", a jury of about 40 members evaluated the products individually. The rigorous evaluation criteria included the level of innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomics and lifespan.
